Local chef Mike Pitt from Oxted, who is known for his exclusive Supper Clubs, as well as regularly freelancing with Jamie Oliver’s team will be teaching this Knife Skills course! Mike has his own catering company ‘Taste the Seasons’.
Learn to handle a knife with confidence. Slice, dice, peel and chop fruit, vegetables, herbs and meat swiftly and efficiently. This hands-on workshop will show you the right way to choose, use, sharpen and store a knife.
Starting with a selection of vegetables and herbs, you will learn how to prepare each of them, using the correct knife and technique to produce the best results. Once you have mastered the basics, Mike will then show you how to bone & joint a whole chicken, ensuring that every piece of meat is used. But don’t expect Mike to do all the work!
After his demonstration, you will all be given your own chicken to break down, and, with Mike’s top tips on how to use all that you have prepared, you will take this home with you to cook some tasty dishes for your family and friends.
By then end of the workshop you will be ready to slice, dice and chop your way to better home cooking!
